A large-scale project on translation of folklore from the languages of peoples of the Russian North into Hindi and other Indian languages will be implemented in Russia in 2026-2028. This was reported by TASS (https://tass.ru/kultura/27588825), citing a government document.

The initiative aims to strengthen the position of the Russian language globally, enhance Russia’s importance in the global humanitarian space, and stimulate interest in Russian culture abroad. Leading educational institutions in the Russian Federation are involved in the project.

It is also worth noting that the Union of Russian Translators of India, founded at the instigation of Sonu Saini, a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University, is active in India. The Union translates Russian literature into Indian languages (including Hindi) and Indian literature into Russian. The Union has already translated works by Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor Dostoevsky, Mikhail Zoshchenko, and other Russian writers.
