Russia and India are expanding their co-operation in manufacturing and high-tech industries. Civil aviation is becoming one of the most promising areas. At the ‘Innoprom. India’ exhibition, Russian enterprises presented over 40 developments, and agreements were signed with Indian partners for the supply of 85 Il-114-300 aircraft. The creation of a training centre in India featuring a full-flight simulator and the possibility of localising production are also under consideration. The development of industrial and technological co-operation will be among the key themes at the 2nd Russia–India Business Forum ‘TIME’, which will be held in Kazan on 14–17 October 2026.
India remains an important partner for Tatarstan’s aviation industry as well. The republic’s Kazan Helicopters plant manufactures the ‘Ansat’ light helicopter, which is regarded as a promising export product. Russian and Indian companies are also developing co-operation in helicopter engineering, industrial manufacturing and technology.
Another key area is the organisation of licensed production for the ‘Superjet’ in India. A corresponding agreement between UAC and the Indian corporation HAL is in the final stages of preparation. In parallel, co-operation is expanding in medicine, optics, acoustics and other civil sectors.
”India has already become a milestone market for the Il-114-300: the aircraft’s world premiere took place here earlier this year. At that time, UAC signed a preliminary agreement with Flamingo Aerospace for the supply of six aircraft starting from 2028. At the current INNOPROM, new agreements were signed with Indian partners – this time for 85 aircraft. A contract for a further 20 aircraft is planned to be signed in the near future,” the Rostec press service reported.
