World without borders through the culture

An empowering festival entitled “Russia–India: From Heart to Heart” was held at the estate of Nicholas Roerich, the great Russian artist, in Naggar, India. This large-scale celebration served as a reminder of the centuries-old friendship between Russia and India, and of the significance of culture, all the while commemorating the events of 1941–1945.

Furthermore, an international eco-patriotic campaign, “Garden of Memory”, took place on the occasion of the Festival as well, with participants planting trees to honor a memory of the Great Patriotic War.

Other integral parts of the Festival were a round table dedicated to the rich cultural heritage of the Roerich family, and an exhibition of works by Russian and Indian artists that took place in the art gallery.

For the first time at the Roerich estate, Russian pupils performed in Hindi, presenting vibrant Indian dances, whilst local children from the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh sang songs in Russian–all to preserve the fine tradition of friendship between the two nations. The festival once again highlighted the strength and depth of the interaction between the two cultures.
