India plans to introduce its own digital currency

To conduct international settlements, India intends to launch its own digital currency. This was stated by the head of the Reserve Bank (central bank) of the country, Sanjay Malhotra, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, test payments are already being carried out at the retail and wholesale levels. Digital currency is necessary for India for cross-border settlements.
