TurnoverTatarstan is consistently stepping up its trade and economic co-operation with India. In the first half of 2026, the republic's trade turnover with the country grew more than ninefold compared to the same period in 2025. At the end of 2025, trade between Tatarstan and India stood at around $400 million, up from approximately $360 million the previous year.
Prospects for further expansion of ties will be discussed at the TIME Forum in Kazan. The Republic of Tatarstan serves as a pivotal anchor in strengthening economic development, actively supporting both countries' initiative to increase trade turnover to $100 billion by 2030.
Developing direct links between regions and companies is becoming one of the key drivers for further growth. Tatarstan is already building its engagement with Indian businesses not only through trading operations but also via investment support, B2B negotiations, and the pursuit of joint projects. Promising sectors include industrial co-operation, technology, the chemical industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and logistics.
According to Sergey Katyrin, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, the emergence of sustainable business ties and joint projects is more critical for future trade growth than the sheer volume dynamics.
"The potential for growth is undoubtedly there. The current volume of trade can hardly be considered the limit for an economy of Tatarstan's scale and a market like India. That said, I would not make chasing a specific figure the primary goal. It is far more important to expand the product range, launch joint projects, and build sustainable B2B connections," Sergey Katyrin noted.
