In Rio de Janeiro, on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further developing a "special and privileged strategic partnership" between the two countries across the full range of practical cooperation. They also discussed the schedule of upcoming Russian-Indian contacts.

Special attention was paid to further intensifying cooperation in BRICS (https://www.mid.ru/en/foreign_policy/briks/) taking into account New Delhi's upcoming chairmanship of the Association in 2026. The ministers also exchanged views on a number of current international issues.
