Happy Republic Day!

Today, India celebrates its national holiday, the 77th Republic Day. On January 26, 1950, the country's constitution was adopted, transforming the former British colony into a sovereign democratic state.

The constitution was adopted by the Constituent Assembly of India on November 26, 1949, but it came into effect in January. This day was chosen because in 1930, the Indian National Congress, the supreme party of India, declared India's Declaration of Independence (Purna Swaraj).

On Republic Day, parades, including a military parade, are held along the central Raj Path in New Delhi. On the second day of the festival, the "Dusk Signal" ceremony takes place, where army brass bands play marches and lyrical pieces at sunset.
