Tatarstan and India are moving towards preparing joint ventures and investment projects. Following September negotiations in New Delhi, Indian business representatives will continue discussing projects in Kazan at the II Russia-India Business Forum "TIME" on 15–16 October.
As part of its participation in the Innoprom: India exhibition, the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency has concluded cooperation agreements with four Indian companies. The partners operate in the fields of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals. The parties are considering the possibility of implementing joint projects and localising production in the republic.
Pharmaceuticals is emerging as one of the potential areas of cooperation: the Indian company Reliance Private has expressed interest in collaborating with Tatarstan and intends to visit the Tatchempharmpreparaty production facility. Other discussions cover engineering, petrochemicals, coal gasification, infrastructure, and digital technologies. In September, plans were also announced by the Indian cloud provider Bharat AI Cloud to open an office in Kazan.
Concurrently, Tatarstan is expanding its direct links with Indian business associations. Following the visit, a cooperation agreement was reached between the Confederation of Indian Industry and the Business Association of Russian Clusters. The Confederation brings together over 360,000 companies and has partnerships with organisations across 102 countries. Separate discussions were held with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, which represents around 250,000 enterprises.
The next stage will involve continuing the negotiations in Tatarstan. At the TIME Forum, the parties plan to concretise specific projects, discuss the localisation of production, investment facilitation, and mechanisms for companies to access the markets of both countries. Tatarstan is also developing its interaction with the Indian national agency Invest India, which operates on a 'one-stop shop' principle for foreign investors.
“The key outcome of Tatarstan’s participation in New Delhi is the transition from general declarations to substantive negotiations on the localisation of production and the creation of joint ventures in engineering, petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. These same topics are featured in the business programme of the Russia-India ‘TIME’ Business Forum, but they are now being filled with concrete substance,” noted Taliya Minullina, Chief Executive of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.
Media accreditation for the TIME Forum is available via the link until 10 October 2026. Official website of the TIME Forum. Useful information about the Forum via the link.
