There are 1,176 Indian medical students studying in Tatarstan.

1,041 of them are pursuing higher education at Kazan State Medical University, while 135 are studying at the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology at Kazan Federal University. Both universities actively collaborate with educational institutions in India through a number of agreements and memoranda.

In particular, KFU conducts joint research in the field of regenerative biomedicine, as well as studies hantavirus infections and searches for new markers of hemorrhagic fever to improve diagnostics and therapy.

KSMU medical students regularly undergo practical training in Tatarstan polyclinics, and the university itself annually holds in-person entrance exams in India.
