The SATI ETHNICA musical project will perform in Kazan for the first time with a large-scale orchestral programme, ‘Purana Symphony’. The concert will take place on 12 October at the Galiaskar Kamal Tatar State Academic Theatre and will form part of the cultural programme of the 2nd TIME Russia–India Business Forum.
This will mark a new creative milestone for the project: unique ethnic compositions and sacred mantras will be performed for the first time accompanied by a full symphony orchestra. Joining SATI ETHNICA on stage will be over 50 musicians led by Daniyar Sokolov, the Symphony Orchestra of the Galiaskar Kamal Theatre, and the children's choir of the Igor Krutoy Academy in Kazan.
‘The Purana Symphony is not just a concert; it is a living bridge between the civilisations, eras and cultural codes of our countries. In Kazan, for the first time, we are embarking on a bold experiment by combining the spirit of ancient India with a grand academic sound. Over 50 musicians on stage will create a single, powerful flow in which temporal and geographical boundaries blur. Music is a universal language of diplomacy. Our project resonates with the philosophy of the TIME Forum – we carefully preserve ancient identity but boldly combine it with today's opportunities, creating a completely new quality and new meanings,’ emphasised Taliya Minullina, Head of the Tatarstan Investment Development Agency.
The programme will combine the ancient plots of the Indian Puranas, ethnic instruments, vocals, and the academic sound of the orchestra. Thanks to the orchestral arrangements, the tracks will gain new depth while fully preserving the familiar spirit and philosophy of the project. According to the musicians, the audience is in for a musical journey where different traditions, eras, and cultural codes will meet.
The singer, former member of the pop group Fabrika and founder of the SATI ETHNICA musical project, Sati Kazanova, notes that today it is particularly important to find what unites people, while music allows us to familiarise ourselves with each other's traditions, find common values, and create something new while preserving cultural identity. In this context, the ‘Purana Symphony’ is set to become a musical journey where different civilisations, traditions and sounds meet.
‘For me, India is not just a country with which I am linked by an interest in its culture. It is an important part of my personal and creative journey. The Indian musical tradition, its depth, philosophy, and special attitude towards sound, have greatly influenced the way I feel and create music today. That is precisely why the upcoming “Purana Symphony” in Kazan is an invitation to a musical journey where different civilisations, traditions and sounds meet. I want every single member of the audience to be able to feel this connection, discover something new for themselves, and see for themselves that music knows no borders,’ noted Sati Kazanova.
